After graduating high school, Steven Streit served four years as a Machinist in the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he served on the USS California and USS Truxton as the ship’s rescue swimmer and was deployed twice to the North Arabia Sea.
After his service he moved to Lockport in 1990 and attended college at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Steven graduated with a Bachelors degree in Visual Communications in 1994. From 1992 until 2000 Steve worked as a technician in the Art and Model department at Packer Engineering in Naperville, Illinois.
In 1999 he started his own company specializing in Product Design, Graphic Design, and Marketing. Since that time, his business has created hundreds of prototypes, designs, and websites for commerce, government, and non-profit organizations. Steve was also a part-time adjunct professor at the Illinois Institute of Art from 2001 to 2005 where he taught students professional practices in the field of Graphic Design.
Steven married Wendy in 2000, and they bought a historic house together in 2005 in the old downtown area. They have two daughters.
An active member of his church, Steve's Christian faith is very important to him. For the last thirteen years, Steve has led a team every month to the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago to minister to the homeless.
